YoUDee, the first mascot in the First State, finished first and the University of Delaware cheerleading and dance teams placed near the top at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) College Cheerleading and Dance National Championships, held Jan. 13-15 at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. For the fourth time in 11 years, YoUDee won the UCA's open mascot division, finishing ahead of Villanova, Tennessee Tech and Arkansas State universities. The UD cheerleaders finished second in the Division I championships and the dance team, also in Division I, took second place in the hip-hop finals and ninth in the jazz finals. The State University of New York at Potsdam recently conferred 180 baccalaureate and graduate degrees on students who graduated from the College in December 2011. The College recognized the graduates for their distinction in completing degrees in a variety of fields. A record 303 Eastern Connecticut State University students have received ECSU Foundation's competitive scholarships in the 2011-12 academic year. The allotted scholarships total $334,000 in funds awarded through the ECSU Foundation's annual scholarship process.

The State University of New York at Geneseo has named 30 new Edgar Fellows for the current academic year. The college's Honors Program is named after the program's founder, William Edgar, distinguished teaching professor emeritus of philosophy. Students must exhibit a high level of motivation and academic accomplishment to be admitted to the program, which entails honors courses, research opportunities and close work with honors advisers.
